Project Overview:

Home Improvements & Construction Ltd (HICL) recently completed a full home transformation in Seamore Gardens, KT5 – just a short walk from our Surbiton office. The homeowners, a local family, initially approached us to build a rear extension. However, as the work progressed and they were impressed by the quality and professionalism of our team, the project naturally evolved into a full internal refurbishment, bathroom upgrades, landscaping, and the creation of a bespoke garden gym room.

Creating Space and Light with a Rear Extension:

The original property ended where the new extension now begins. Our team opened up the rear of the home by installing steel supports and columns, allowing for a seamless transition between the existing structure and the newly built space. The single-storey wraparound extension is filled with natural light, thanks to large skylights and elegant aluminium bifold doors that open directly onto the garden.

Level differences between the old and new parts of the house required careful floor preparation. We replaced uneven floorboards and laid a new surface that enhances the light, airy feel throughout. The new kitchen features quartz worktops, ambient lighting, and generous space for family gatherings. A dedicated utility room was added with integrated storage, washing appliances, and a sink – all tucked away from the main living areas.

Thoughtful External Works and Garden Landscaping:

Externally, the home was rendered with K-Rend to improve thermal efficiency and modernise the property’s appearance. We carried out extensive landscaping, including new porcelain paving, retaining walls, and raised flower beds. A dedicated seating area was created to extend the family’s living space into the garden.

The rear lawn was relaid, and high-quality finishes throughout the outdoor space have given the property a fresh new character.

Thoughtful External Works and Garden Landscaping:

At the back of the garden, we replaced a deteriorating shed with a fully insulated, low-maintenance garden room. Built from scratch with composite cladding and aluminium sliding doors, the space is ideal for use as a gym, office, or studio. It also includes a separate storage room for garden tools and equipment. Designed for year-round comfort, the space is naturally bright, warm, and practical – all within just a few steps from the main home.

Internal Refurbishment and Bathroom Upgrades:
Upstairs, we carried out painting, decorating, and new carpet installations, creating a cohesive finish throughout the home. We also combined a small bathroom and WC into one spacious family bathroom, complete with high-quality fittings, tiling, and modern design touches.

The entire home now feels brighter, more functional, and better suited to the family's evolving needs. The client has already invited us back for a future loft conversion.
